Contradictory
November 8, 2008
I know I said that I wanted her to sleep in her crib. And I do. I think.
Except that she’s been asleep in there for the last four hours and I cannot sleep a wink. I keep getting up to check on her and sitting up to listen for her and damnit, I can’t sleep without her next to me.
Sigh.
I’m not going to go get her. I’m not going to go get her. I’m not going to go get her.
You’d think she was in another room from me, people, but NO. She’s a mere three feet from my bed. And I can’t sleep.
I’m not going to go get her.
You are so cute.
Deep breaths. You can do this.
November 8th, 2008 at 1:19 am$10 says you went and got her. Don’t feel bad if you did. Just remember there’s hundreds of mothers who toss them into a crib across the house from Day 2 and let them scream and don’t check on them. The mere fact that it’s worrying you means you’re a good mom.
For the record, when I wake up at night, I *still* listen for my son’s breathing.
November 8th, 2008 at 7:28 amyou’re going to be okay… just remember what we talked about… it’s okay if you went to get her. it’s totally okay. whatever works for you guys so that both of you can sleep, that’s all that matters. but don’t you worry about that little sweet thing in her crib, she is going to be just fine.

November 10th, 2008 at 8:30 pmIt’s okay if you go get her. Really. Joe’s been sleeping in his own bed for about 6 months now and sometimes, just before I go to bed, I crawl into his bed to snuggle and feel his breath on my face. Hopefully I outgrow that before it becomes creepy…

November 11th, 2008 at 3:37 pmIt is tough, and I am proud of you! And look how well she is doing - four hours of undisturbed blissful sleep! : )
